Beth Sholom serves as a homeless shelter for the Religious Coalition of Frederick, providing temporary housing for three or four families. All of our guests are parents and their children. Volunteers are needed to welcome, support and interact with the guests during a time of crisis in their lives, and to help set up and pack up the day before and day after their weeklong stay. Training is provided for volunteers who serve as evening and overnight hosts.
We will also be collecting healthy, kosher snacks and fruit for the guests, and gently used games, books, crayons, paper, etc., for the children to use while they are guests. New volunteers are required to submit a form to the Religious Coalition for a criminal background check and to attend a one-hour volunteer orientation session. For more information, or for a volunteer application form, contact Stan Binder at email@example.com or call 703-609-7011. To volunteer for shifts, sign up here.
